Iowa Selected for National Project to Improve Ovarian Cancer Care (12/13/19)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has selected the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) to be a part of a project called “Implementing Health Systems and Environmental Changes to Improve Ovarian Cancer Care.” Iowa, along with two other states (Michigan and Rhode Island) and one tribal organization (South Puget Intertribal Planning Agency) are participating in the project.

Free Opioid Overdose Reversal Drug (12/12/19)

Iowans who want to be prepared in the event they encounter someone experiencing an opioid overdose can now obtain free naloxone (Narcan nasal spray) through the statewide Tele-Naloxone Project. The result of a partnership between the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC), the project hopes to remove the barriers of cost and access for individuals.
